Year of the Code Monkey

Year of the Code Monkey has a new look. The theme, which I’ve entitled “Not Easy Being Green,” is loosely based on the Gluttony Theme from wpdesigner.com. I’ve made a few improvements over the previous theme used here:

• Vertical space is now better utilized. Note that the sidebar extends further up the page, making more of it readily visible.
• The sidebar is now present on all pages. Previously, individual posts were given a large chunk of real-estate, so the sidebar had to be hidden. This is no longer the case. As an additional benefit of this change, line lengths are smaller, which should make reading the site a little less easier on the eyes.
• Users of webkit-enabled browsers (Google Chrome and Safari) will now see the additional eye-candy that was previously served to Firefox visitors only. At the moment, I’m serving the extended stylesheet to everyone, though that may change.
• Random header images have decreased in size horizontally, improving the aspect ratio and making it easier to create new images in the future. Nearly all of the random images have been replaced with new ones (though a couple of the older ones remain).
• A few layout bugs have been fixed and general layout mechanisms have been improved.

As of this writing, I have only tested the site with Firefox 3.5, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer 7. Please let me know if you see anything that doesn’t look right. I wouldn’t be surprised if something fell through the cracks. Also note that I’m still tweaking my photo album styles to match this new theme, so bear with me as I make changes.
