Because Jonah Bishop Said So
Like everything else at the Farmer's Day event, even the grist mill is steam powered. This linkage underneath the mill itself, went all the way back to the shed where the main steam engine resided. One note of interest is that all the wheels visible in this photograph are made out of wood (not metal, as I might have guessed).
