Secret Cove Photos

August 5, 2011

The penultimate photo album from my trip to California, Secret Cove, has just been posted. This location was technically in Nevada, and is one of the most beautiful spots along Lake Tahoe. It’s a bit of a hike from the parking area, but is well worth the venture. Be forewarned that clothing is optional at the beach area!

Yet another photo album has been been posted, this time featuring a few shots from our visit to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. It’s a small museum, but they had a few interesting exhibits.

Eagle Falls Photos

July 15, 2011

My largest photo album from my trip to California has just been posted. This time around, it’s a collection of photos from Eagle Falls, a beautiful place on the southwestern side of the lake. The falls are easily accessible, and as a result it gets really crowded. I highly recommend visiting this location, however; it’s totally worth it.

Napa Valley Photos

July 10, 2011

My latest photo album, Napa Valley, has been posted. This isn’t a very large album, but there are some neat sights I captured. If you’re ever near the Napa Valley region, I recommend visiting it. There’s a lot to see and do (and more vineyards than you can shake a stick at).

Random Davis Photos

My next photo album, a Random Davis Collection, has been posted. This album, and the next one in the queue, are both fairly small. I’ve got a ton of photos from Lake Tahoe, however, so stay tuned.

Davis Arboretum Photos

July 2, 2011

I have just posted the first photo album from my recent trip to California (several others are in the works). This first album showcases some of the sights at the UC Davis Arboretum. The plant collection at this arboretum is fantastic, and the walking trail (3 miles long) is a fantastic place to walk, especially in the early morning hours. Lots of beautiful scenery and even wildlife make this place a must-visit if you’re ever in the Davis area.

Last Friday, I took some time off from work to visit another one of North Carolina’s State Parks. This time around, I checked out Merchants Millpond, up in Gates County (in the northeastern part of the state). This may be one of the most beautiful parks I’ve been to. One may canoe or kayak in the pond (canoes can be rented from the visitor’s center), and though I didn’t do that on this trip, I’ll definitely be back to do so.

The pond is home to the American alligator, with this location being at the northern extent of their range. I didn’t see any alligators on this trip, but I did get a chance to see quite a lot of other wildlife, including wild turkeys, a number of skinks and lizards, several snakes, turtles, and plenty of birds. I’m sure you would encounter even more wildlife while canoeing around the pond.

As usual, I took my camera along with me and took some photos of the park. I highly recommend visiting this gem in the North Carolina state park system.

More Random Photos

April 27, 2011

I have just posted a new collection of random photographs I’ve taken over the past few months. It’s been a while since I’ve taken any photos, but now that it’s warming up I hope to get back into it. With any luck, I’ll have a new state park photo series this weekend, so stay tuned.

Mayo River State Park

October 11, 2010

Earlier this month, I traveled to Rockingham County in north-western North Carolina to visit the newest member of the NC state park system: Mayo River State Park. Naturally, I took my camera along and got some photos. Though there are only two hiking trails, both are worth the visit. It’s a nice new addition to an already stellar park system.
